
Dr. Denise Spirou - Head of School
Dr. Spirou joined The Greene School as Head of School in 2017. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Elementary Education from East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania, received a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Nova University, her Doctorate from Walden University in Teacher Leadership, and has her Gifted Endorsement in Florida. She began her teaching career in the Stroudsburg Area School District in Pennsylvania. In 1999, Dr. Spirou began teaching for the Palm Beach County School District. In 2000, she moved to The Weiss School, where she stayed for 16 years. While at The Weiss School, she taught third grade, became the Administrator for Admissions and Public Relations, worked as the Assistant Head of School, and eventually served as the Head of School for six years.
Due to her extensive knowledge and experience, Dr. Spirou is in demand as an instructor for gifted coursework and workshops. She has helped over 300 Independent School teachers receive their gifted endorsement in the State of Florida. Dr. Spirou has also served as a Chair of the Florida Council of Independent Schools Accreditation teams.
Dr. Spirou was the recipient of the North Palm Beach Teacher of the Year Award in 2004 for Excellence in the Field of Education, is a graduate of Leadership of Palm Beach County Class of 2011, served as the 2011/2012 President of the North Palm Beach Rotary, and served as the Chairman of the Education Committee of the North Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce during the 2016/2017 school year. Most recently, she was awarded the 2017 Laura Joyner Award by Mensa, which recognizes outstanding work, theoretical or applied, in the field of human intelligence and advocating for our gifted youth. We welcome Dr. Spirou as our founding Head of School.

Brett Hannan - Chief Innovation Officer, Computer Science
Mr. Hannan joined The Greene School community as the Engineering and Chief Innovation Officer in May 2016. His career in education began in 2010, lecturing engineering students, part-time.
His inquisitive nature and strong desire for mastery enabled him to achieve an excellent academic record. Mr. Hannan obtained a Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering and Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts - Dartmouth. More recently, Mr Hannan studied Engineering & Applied Sciences at the University of Massachusetts - Dartmouth.
His research was recognized by the International Web Intelligence Conference in Warsaw, Poland and later published in Artificial Intelligence, Health Advising - Association for Computing Machinery. He has also had research published in Applying Big Data Analytics in Bioinformatics and Medicine, a 2017 university textbook for medical students.
Mr. Hannan is a professional member of both the Institute of Electrical and Electronics and International Society for Technology in Education. He has attended multiple educational conferences, including the World Maker Faire, and Future Educational Technology Coordinators. His interests include all things technology related; he is an avid reader, enjoys the outdoors, and Indian cuisine.

Dawn DeRosa - Office Coordinator
A native of New Jersey, Ms. DeRosa moved to Palm Beach County in 2011. Ms. DeRosa received a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Montclair State University and has worked in the field of education for the past decade.
She has extensive experience from early childhood to the collegiate level, as well as a background in marketing, event planning, and public relations. Most recently, she served as the Admissions and Events Coordinator at a charter school in Palm Beach Gardens and as Director of Marketing at a private school in Jupiter.

Peter Valastro - Office Manager, Digital Media
Mr. Valastro joined The Greene School in July 2016 as the Digital Media Coordinator. He arrived equipped with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing, extensive prior exposure to the realm of gifted education, and over ten years of public relations experience.
Prior to The Greene School, Mr. Valastro was the Director of Communication and Camp Coordinator for a gifted early childhood to eighth grade school in New England. His participation in education spans from early childhood to the the collegiate level.
Mr. Valastro is an active member of the International Symposium on Educational Technology and has attended multiple seminars, including the Agents of Change Digital Marketing conference in Portland, Maine.
